LegoS standard building

LegoS standard building is based on the roof truss structures. The building has a highly durable and reliable structure. It became possible with the use of S355 steel produced at Cherepovets steel mill (part of Severstal Russian Steel Division). It has unique consumer-oriented properties: high strength, excellent formability, good weldability. Thanks to these particular properties, it became possible to reduce the weight of the frame structure without sacrificing the strength characteristics of the building. Roof trusses and bracing system are designed for the application of products from OOO Severstal TPZ-Sheksna (included in Severstal Russian Steel division).

  • Frame

    Columns, roof trusses, roof purlins, column-to-trusses bracing system, end beams and studs are bearing elements.

    The frame is a system of single-span beam-to-column structures spaced at 6m. Main frames consist of uniform columns and flat roof trusses with a sloped top chord (10%) and a horizontal bottom one. Roof trusses are spaced at 6m like columns. End frames consist of beams and studs, studs being spaced at 6m.

    The cross frame is a frame with roof trusses hinged to columns which in turn are rigidly connected to the foundations.

    The longitudinal frame stability is ensured by the vertical braces between columns and roof bracing. Trusses, columns and bracing system are supplied preprimed, girts and purlins are supplied galvanized.

    Connections:

    • frame columns to foundations - rigid;
    • frame studs to foundations - rigid;
    • columns with roof trusses - hinged, precision bolts;
    • frame studs with end beams - hinged, precision bolts;
    • roof trusses junctions - hinged, precision bolts.
  • Roof trusses

    Roof truss is a structure with a sloped top chord (10%) and a horizontal bottom one.

    Roof trusses and bracing system of the building are made from products of “Sheksna” tubes profiling plant according to GOST 30245-2003 and EN10219.

    Roof purlins and wall girts are made of galvanized profiles basing on the butt system.

  • Cladding structures

    Buildings can be insulated or non-insulated.

    Wall and roof cladding for insulated buildings can be made of sandwich-panels or with sheet-by-sheet assembly. For non-insulated buildings profiled sheets are used.
    Color of cladding structures is chosen in accordance with the customer's corporate image. The palette used by ZAO Severstal Steel Solutions has 18 basic RAL colors.

    Sandwich-panels with a mineral wool or polymeric core are the most efficient and practical option for a cladding structure.

    o    Installation of wall and roof panels takes much less time which automatically makes the installation work cheaper.

    o    Moreover, such works don't require heavy and costly material handling equipment.

    o    There are practically no maintenance costs: buildings with sandwich-panels as cladding structures can do without repair for a long time.

    o    Sandwich-panels show good thermal insulation and fire-resistant properties, resistance to hostile environment, and conform with all sanitary standards.

    Business Plus (combined version)

    Roof: sheet-by-sheet assembly (heat insulation 150 mm, with profiled sheets as internal skin)

    Walls: sandwich-panels (120 mm)

    Sheet-by-sheet assembly (3-layer): internal and external skins consist of a profiled sheet with a layer of mineral wool insulation between them.

    Sandwich-panels with a mineral wool or polymeric core are the most efficient and practical option for a wall cladding structure.

    o    In some cases it is recommended to use a combination of cladding structures to get all useful features and properties of the applied materials. For example, a sheet-by-sheet assembly of the roof and use of sandwich panels as a wall cladding can save on materials without sacrificing basic technical characteristics.

    Roof: sheet-by-sheet assembly (heat insulation 150 mm, with profiled sheets as internal skin)

    Wall: sheet-by-sheet assembly (heat insulation 100 mm, not covered with profiled sheets from inside)

    Cold

    Roof: profiled sheets

    Wall corrugated sheets

    A profiled sheet is a light-gage hot-dip galvanized steel that can be additionally coated with polymer or paintwork. Roof profiled sheets have a deeper profiling which increases the bearing capacity of the sheets. Wall profiles have a smaller rib height.

    o    Mainly used for "cold" warehouses of temporary storage, sheds and annexes, some types of agricultural buildings.

  • Durability

    LegoS standard buildings are remarkable for their improved durability through the use of high-strength steel grade S355. S355 steel produced at the plants of PAO Severstal has unique consumer-oriented properties: high strength, excellent formability, good weldability.

  • Compactness and light weight of truss structures

    The height of the truss structures does not exceed 2.2 meters, and the total content of steel varies between 27 kg/m2 and 39 kg/m2 depending on the height and span width of the structure.

  • Purlins and Girts

    Additional V-shaped struts have reduced the cross-section of the roof purlins which in result has led to a decrease in the weight of the roof purlin system by 8%.

  • Fast installation

    The full range of frame elements is produced and completed at the factory, and it increases the speed of installation at the construction site. The average installation time for a standard building makes 4-6 weeks, which is 1.5 times less than the time required for the construction of similar buildings on traditional technologies. Unification of structural elements allows shipment of load-bearing columns of the building within a week after signing the contract.

Time and Cost

The advantages of standard design are a significantly quicker design process and projects approval stages: after the conclusion of the contract the customer receives the foundation design assignment and KM drawings. Building designs are totally optimized in terms of price, the time of production and supply is minimum due to the available option of “for stock” production. Unification of structural elements allows shipment of load-bearing columns of the building within a week after signing the contract.
